My softies have a childlike quality which appeals to the kid in each one of us, regardless of age or gender. (I've sold some to grown men who loved their whimsical nature.)

For me the appeal of these softies is that they're not mass produced: when you buy one for yourself or as a gift for someone special, you're getting a unique, one-of-a-kind creation. You're creating memories for a special someone and, in the process, encouraging the making of handmade items, which is always a good thing.

Martha, My Dear

I can't believe I haven't posted anything on this blog in over a year! While it's true I cut down on softie making, I have made some during that time. Meet Martha, my latest creation. She wears a little pouch around her neck filled with worry dolls because, well Martha is a chronic worrier. You can see this in the droop of her mouth and slumped shoulders.

There are still a few finishing touches to tend to; for instance, I haven't sewn on all of her hair. Martha is wearing a simple wrap around dress made of recycled khaki and her eyebrows are safety pins. She's 24 inches tall (when not slouching!)

I need to find the right sized box to ship her in before showcasing her in my Etsy shop. If you'd like dibs on Martha, shoot me an email.

(I apologize for the sloppy picture--my photo editing program is down right now.)

Hand Knit Dolls

Lately I've tried my hand at knitted dolls.
